The leading model in the Advanced series
The Celestron Advanced VX11-SCT is the most advanced telescope in Celestron's Advanced series. It has a Schmidt-Cassegrain structure and is provided with a large primary mirror with a diameter of 11 inches (280mm). The telescope has an incredible focal length of 2800 millimeters because its mirrors are used very efficiently. This means great magnifications are easily accomplished. The Celestron Advanced VX 11-SGT surpasses the Celestron VX 9.25 telescope in its abillity to achieve light outputs with an increase of 41 percent.
The C11-SCT is equiped with an eyepiece of 40 millimeters and therefore reaches magnifications of 70 times, due to its incredible focal length. The eyepiece easily fits into the telescope's 1.25 inch socket and additionally suits other telescopes with a comparable socket size. Using different sized eyepieces you will be able to create a variety of magnifications. For this particular telescope a 40mm eyepiece was chosen because of its wider range of vision, so you can see more of the sky. A smaller ocular would mean a greater magnification and a more detailed image, eventhough the standard magnification of 70 times produces a crisp and detailed image.
The telescope mirrors are coated with Celestron's unique Starbright coating. It is designed to make mirrors as strong and effective as they can possibly be. This particular coating exists out of several layers, including materials like aluminum, titanium and magnesium. Celestron improves the smoothness of its mirrors drasticly by using these materials and additionally achieves an increase in light output of more than 40 percent.
The GoTo function
The complete GoTo system with which the telescope is equiped automatically finds heavenly bodies. It is programmed to find more than 40.000 heavenly bodies, which makes it even more fun to use the telescope. The additional Celestron SkyAlign alignment technology makes it really easy to align the telescope and it even allows you to store your own findings in its memory. The next time you use the telescope it can automatically aim towards these particular heavenly bodies. The 200 heavenly bodies that are viewed most are provided with extensive information. Of course the GoTo system is easily controlled by the remote control which has a bright LCD screen.
Renewed tripod model
The VX11-SCT telescope is built according to a renewed industrial design by Celestron. The engine housing wil never block the abillity to fixate the meridian lines, due to this improved design. Also, this telescope tripod is even more stable than its predecessor. Even the latitude range has been improved; the VX11 can be used for latitudes between 7 and 77.
The Celestron Advanced VX11-SCT can be used for astrophotography when using the right camera adapter and an according T2 ring. Below you can find several images that were made using this telescope.
