The Meade LXD 75 8" (203mm) reflector telescope is designed for both the beginning and the advanced astronomer. The Meade LXD 8" telescope comes with a tracking motor on both axes that allows you to automatically follow each object. The primary mirror is made of high quality Pyrex which guarantees exceptional thermal stability. The correction lens fully corrects for spherical aberration and provides very clear observations. The water white glass increases light transmission more than 10%. The heavy German equatorial tripod will contribute to the precision of observation: ideal for astrophotography. The LXD75 telescope comes with a GO-TO system, which means that you enter the star, nebula or planet you want to see in the included hand-held computer and the telescope does the rest! The telescope will search the object that you just entered, and once found, centre the object in your eyepiece. AutoStar Controller The included AutoStar controller helps you find more than 30,000 objects in the night sky. View planets, stars, galaxies, nebulae and comets - all easy to find at the push on a button. AutoStar is preprogrammed with several guided tours, including "Tonight's Best" - the most beautiful objects particular to the night you observe the sky. All you need to do is to tell the computer the date, time and location, and the AutoStar then takes you along on a guided tour of the best objects in the sky on the night that you are observing. It is easy to update the AutoStar controller; just visit Meade.com to download software upgrades, guided tours and timely objects like comets. Keep your AutoStar up-to-date and your telescope will grow with you over the coming years. What discerns the Meade LXD 75 8" telescope from the average telescope?

  1. Meade has High Precision Pointing (HHP) built-in into this telescope. The HPP function puts objects in the centre of the image field, so the location of deep-sky objects can be found quickly and easily.
  2. Periodic error correction corrects periodic errors on the RA axis over the course of one or more training periods, which will minimize correction during long exposures in astrophotography.
  3. Nine speeds on both the RA and the DA axis. A fast rotation speed of 128x or a slow speed of 1x, it is all possible. Searching and rotating is managed by the AutoStar controller.
  4. Three-star alignment ensures accurate alignment and eliminates the need for a complicated optical/mechanical adjustment.
  5. Compensate variable height differences in the tripod with the "spreader bar brace" - ensures stability and vibration damping. This is necessary for a pleasant visual observation and astrophotography. The illuminated Pole Alignment ensures quick and precise alignment.
  6. The telescope is powered by D-cell batteries but can also be connected to an optional cigarette lighter adapter or an AC adapter.
