Dobsonian telescopes are known as large telescopes, and indeed they are. However these Meade Lightbridge Dobsonian telescopes are not too big to take with you. This Meade Lightbridge 8" Dobsonian telescope fits in your trunk and is easy to disassemble and assemble.

On bearings & swivels
The bearings of the swivel portion are steel and therefore very strong and durable. The optics are high quality and only the best materials are used by Meade which provides a solid, but still portable telescope for the same price as a much lesser non-disassembling Dobsonian telescope.

What is the difference between this telescope and a normal Dobsonian telescope?

1. Diffraction Limited Optics - Meade likes to use the best materials, so that achievements can be better than those of its competitors. The images will be detailed, bright, clear and full of contrast with the Dobson 8".
2. Meade optical coatings - The mirrors are coated with aluminum and magnesium fluoride, which provides clear and more detailed images.
3. 2 "aluminum focuser with 1.25" adapter. The classically designed focuser provides good, easy, and accurate focusing.
4. Built-in cooling fan for the primary mirror. Brings the telescope into thermal equilibrium quickly and efficiently by the battery powered fan. The fan is mounted at the rear of the "open" primary mirror for fast cooling.
5. RA roller bearings make movements smooth and effortless.
6. Advanced viewfinder with crosshairs. The illuminated crosshairs make this luxury viewfinder adjustable to your observing needs.
7. 26mm QX wide angle eyepiece (4000-series) - A 26mm wide angle eyepiece (Meade 4000 series) in the 2" version will come standard with this telescope. The eyepiece has a stunning 70-degree field of view.
8. Metal Front Secondary Mirror Tube with 2-inch Crayford focuser - a Crayford-style focuser is a professional focuser that allows fast and accurate focusing. Designed for continuous observation. This focuser accepts both 2 inch and 1.25 inch eyepieces. So you can also use a 26mm wide angle eyepiece.
