Meade CCD Focal Reducer / Field Flattener
Meade CCD focal reducers f/6.3 are available for you for superior comfort while shooting. The main advantage of these focal reducers is that they decrease the focal length of the telescope. A big advantage of this reduction is that less time is needed for shooting pictures. In some cases the shutter time can be reduced by 80%. Choose from two models:
About the Meade f/6.3 CCD focal reducer and field flattener
The Meade f/6.3 CCD focal reducer is the dream of every photographer. It improves the edge-of-field correction and reduces exposure times by up to 50%. It reduces the focal ratio by a factor of 0.63 and fits the rear cell of all Schmidt-Cassegrains. This f/6.3 focal length shortener is part of the Meade 4000 series and has four multi-coated lenses. The focal reducer fits every 8 to 16 inch Schmidt Cassegrain or Richey-Chretien but is also compatible with Meade APO refractors & 7" Maksutov Cassegrains (not ideal because the latter two types do not benefit from the flat field of view that this focal reducer also produces).
An f/10 Schmidt Cassegrain will therefore become an f/6.3 and an older f/6.3 becomes an f/4.0, and an f/8.0 a Richey-Chretien becomes an f/5.0. The Meade f/6.3 focal reducer can be summarized as follows:
