Item does exactly what it is supposed to with one exception.
I bought this item on the premise that I could hook it up to the video in port on my Canon camcorder so I could use the camcorder to record the images onto DV tape and SD card.
At the very least I expected to be able to use the camcorder's LCD screen as a monitor and pass through the signal to my TV or laptop (as my camcorder has a built in analogue to digital video conversion function).
None of this is possible though as it seems the video output is in the NTSC format rather than PAL.
Research on the internet indicates this and it is the only thing that makes sense.
The eyepiece works fine hooked up to my TV (which can handle NTSC signals) but not to my camcorder (which can only handle PAL signals)
I assumed that being in the UK and buying from a UK site that the UK standard PAL would be used with this eyepiece.
There is mention on the internet of two versions of this eyepiece, one PAL and the other NTSC.
Given that my eyepiece was shipped from Holland (which I did not expect) it may be understandable that the UK PAL version was not the version I received.
There is no mention on the product page of which signal format it uses.
I would assume that an NTSC version of this eyepiece would not work with any TV, Monitor or VCR that can only use PAL signals so my advice would be to check beforehand.
I have now had to buy a video grabber device for my laptop so I can use this device.
