Celestron SkyScout Planetarium
The Celestron SkyScout Planetarium is a handheld planetarium featuring GPS technology which is able to locate thousands of stars, planets, nebula et cetera. The Skyscout is incredibly user-friendly and gently introduces you to the wonders of the universe. The Skyscout is very suitable for children who are new to the world of astronomy.
Use
The Celestron SkyScout Planetarium is very easy to operate. Just aim the SkyScout at an object, push the button (target) and the celestial body is automatically identified. Now the fun part starts; providing written text and audio, the SkyScout will tell you about the history and mythology of the most popular celestial bodies.
Software
The shockproof SkyScout is supplied with software and a USB cable. You can take the SkyScout with you anywhere you go. The database can be upgraded via the internet with free firmware. You can add up to 50.000 objects this way!
Audio and text
Every day the SkyScout compiles a list featuring the most visible objects taking into account the date, location and time. You can also listen to, among others, a study of astronomy and its history and origin in six instalments. The SkyScout also includes a fascinating text about objects which have been sent into space by mankind such as the Space Station, the Hubble telescopes and the Space Shuttle.
Additional information
You can use the SkyScout separately, but it is also possible to use it in combination with a telescope (such as the SkyScout Scope 90). Special accessories such as a mount to fix the planetarium onto your telescope are available.
