The history of Meade telescopes
Meade started producing their first telescopes in 1977; these were hand made 6” and 8” reflector telescopes. Sales of these telescopes were very successful and Meade quickly established themselves as a reliable company supplying high-quality products.
In the eighties Meade steadily continued to grow and nearly every year a new telescope was launched. The ‘2080’ type, among others, was a great success. All this resulted in Meade becoming the biggest telescope manufacturer for consumers in the world! Meade products have been available globally since 1995.
Design of Meade telescopes
In addition to delivering outstanding quality, Meade also pay a lot of attention to the design of their telescopes. The design of Meade’s reflector telescopes has futuristic features while their refractors have more of a ‘classic’ look. This makes it very easy to spot the difference between a Meade reflector and Meade refractor at a glance.
Autostar: a full GoTo module by Meade
Meade’s Autostar technology has been created to make the lives of astronomers easier. Meade Astrofinder software enables you to automatically focus on 30,000 different celestial bodies. When you want to view Venus, for example, all you need to do is search the database. Together with the GPS module, the Autostar module will automatically aim at the selected object. You can also use these telescopes to manually search for celestial objects, of course.
In addition to telescopes, Meade also produce telescope accessories. These enable you to achieve even better results with your telescope. Examples of accessories are power adapters, dew caps, astrophotographical accessories and counterweights.
